Palworld After v1.0.3: What Still Breaks and How to Work Around It

Quick answer

Almost always a full destination chest or chest placement rather than a patch regression. Transporting does not scale with work speed, so swapping in a faster Pal will not help. Empty the destination chest and move storage closer to the production stations.

v1.0.3 fixed the Holy Water tax, the Jetragon gate, and the Aquatic Construction Kit price. It did not fix the things players actually complain about daily, and most of those have workarounds.

v1.0.3 was a balance and bug-fix patch, and it landed the fixes it aimed at: the Holy Water inventory tax, the Jetragon technology gate at level 79, the Aquatic Construction Kit price, and the Crude Oil Extractor build cost. What it did not do is address the behaviours that generate most of the day-to-day complaints, because most of those are not bugs. They are systems working as designed in ways players do not expect.

This page is the workaround list. If your base has stopped producing, your Pals have stopped transporting, or your party feels weaker than the numbers suggest, one of the entries below is almost certainly the cause, and none of them requires waiting for a patch.

What v1.0.3 actually changed, line by line.

v1.0.3 patch review

Pals stopped transporting

The most reported base problem in 1.0, and it is not a bug. Transporting does not scale with work speed, chest proximity drives Pal task selection more than players expect, and a full chest silently kills the whole chain. Fix the storage layout before you swap Pals.

  • Check for a full chest first. A single full destination chest stalls an entire production line.
  • Move chests closer to the production stations. Pathing weighs proximity heavily.
  • Do not swap in a higher work speed Pal expecting faster transport. Work speed does not affect transporting.
  • Check the Transporting work suitability on the Pals you assigned, not their overall stats.

Not transporting

Why work speed and transport speed are different numbers.

Work speed vs transport

The base slows down over days

Sanity. Pal SAN decays with work, and below certain thresholds a Pal works slower, then gets ill, then stops. Because the decline is gradual, it reads as the base getting worse rather than as a specific failure. A Hot Spring and a properly stocked Feed Box solve it permanently.

  • Build a Hot Spring. It is the direct fix and it is not optional on a busy base.
  • Keep the Feed Box actually stocked. Hungry Pals lose SAN faster.
  • Watch for illness, which needs a Medicine-suitable Pal or manual treatment to clear.
  • Rotate Pals off the hardest jobs rather than running the same six into the ground.

SAN thresholds, illness triggers, and the exact recovery levers.

Pal sanity

Chest proximity and sorting behaviour, which drives half of all base complaints.

Chest proximity

The party feels weaker than the stats say

Partner skills no longer stack the way older guides describe, and the target cap overhaul means stacking multiples of the same buff Pal returns far less than expected. If you built a party of five identical buff Pals off a pre-1.0 guide, that is why it underperforms.

  • Do not stack duplicates of the same partner skill. Diversify the six instead.
  • Check the actual same-type attack bonus maths before assuming an element swap is a damage increase.
  • Condenser stars and Pal Souls are still the reliable levers. Those did not change.
  • Mounted weapon damage scales off partner skill modifiers, so investment matters more than schematic tier.

The post-patch checklist

  • Re-check the technology tree. v1.0.3 moved gates, so something you wrote off as unreachable may now be affordable.
  • Re-price your Crude Oil Extractors. The build cost changed and old routing decisions may no longer be optimal.
  • Re-stock Holy Water without the old inventory anxiety. That tax is gone.
  • Audit your base storage layout once, properly. It fixes more perceived bugs than any patch has.

Common questions

Short answers for searches that should land here, with links to the item, map pin, or related guide when you need more detail.

Why are my Pals not transporting after the Palworld v1.0.3 patch?
Almost always a full destination chest or chest placement rather than a patch regression. Transporting does not scale with work speed, so swapping in a faster Pal will not help. Empty the destination chest and move storage closer to the production stations. Not transporting
Why does my Palworld base get slower over time?
Pal sanity. SAN decays with work, and below certain thresholds Pals work slower, then get ill, then stop entirely. Build a Hot Spring, keep the Feed Box stocked, and rotate Pals off the heaviest jobs. Pal sanity
Did v1.0.3 change partner skill stacking in Palworld?
The target cap overhaul means stacking multiples of the same partner skill returns far less than older guides suggest. Build a diverse six rather than five copies of one buff Pal, and lean on condenser stars and Pal Souls for reliable gains. Target cap overhaul
What should you re-check after installing Palworld v1.0.3?
The technology tree, because gates moved and something previously unreachable may now be affordable. Also re-price your Crude Oil Extractors, restock Holy Water without the old inventory tax, and audit your base storage layout once properly. Post-patch priorities
