The 1.0 Target Cap Overhaul, Why Partner Skills No Longer Stack

Stacking four Gobfins to turn yourself into a one-shot machine is dead, 1.0 rebalanced the whole thing.

The Early Access meta of stacking multiple buff partners (most famously four Gobfins to inflate player damage into one-shot territory) was eliminated in 1.0's global balance pass.

What changed

Partner skill buffs no longer stack the way they used to, which shuts down the raw-player-damage stacking builds. Alongside that, baseline balance was re-engineered so Pal skills tend to do significantly higher average damage than the player's weapons.

The new priority: team comp

  • Lean on Pal skills for damage rather than stacking self-buffs.
  • Build elemental loops across your team instead of one buff type ×4.
  • Value coverage and synergy over any single stacked stat.

Rebuild your team around the new synergy meta.
