Palworld World Tree Guardians: Silvance, Dandilord, and the Laboratory

Quick answer

Three. Silvance at the Shinespore Root, Dandilord at the Rotmist Root, and the Forbidden Laboratory gauntlet. All three clears plus the Key Sphere set are needed before the inner Sealed Sanctum barrier drops.

Three guardian clears break the Sealed Sanctum barrier, and two of the three are Grass types. If you bring one Fire Pal you have solved most of the World Tree.

The World Tree asks for three guardian clears before the inner Sealed Sanctum barrier drops: Silvance at the Shinespore Root, Dandilord at the Rotmist Root, and the Forbidden Laboratory gauntlet. In our extract Silvance is pure Grass and Dandilord is Grass and Dark, which means a single strong Fire Pal covers two thirds of the requirement. Both guardians sit at rarity 8, the same band as Silvegis and Xenolord, so they are checks rather than pushovers.

This page is the fight plan. The tower ladder and the Panthalus capture that opens the barrier in the first place have their own Signals, and the sphere and guardian gates are tracked separately, so start there if you are not sure which gate you are actually stuck behind.

Panthalus is the mandatory capture that opens the World Tree barrier.

Silvance at the Shinespore Root

Silvance is pure Grass, so Fire is the clean answer and there is no second element muddying the maths. Bring a Fire partner you have actually invested in rather than the highest rarity Fire Pal you happen to own, because guardian fights punish undercondensed parties far more than they punish the wrong flavour of Fire.

  • Lead Fire. Blazamut, Faleris, Suzaku, or Ragnahawk all carry the element without needing a gear rework.
  • Bring an Incendiary Grenade stack. Grass guardians are one of the few fights where grenade chip damage is worth the inventory slot.
  • Watch your own status bar. Grass movesets lean on poison and slow, so a Ring of Mercy or resistance accessory does more for your clear time than another attack ring.
  • Do not bring a Grass Pal because it survives the arena hazards. Off-element damage is what turns a five minute fight into a twenty minute one.

Dandilord at the Rotmist Root

Dandilord is Grass and Dark in our extract, and the dual typing is the whole fight. Fire still lands on the Grass half, but the Dark half means your Fire Pal is no longer taking neutral damage back, and Dark pressure from the boss ignores a lot of the resistance stacking that carried you through the tower ladder. The practical answer is Fire damage with a Dragon flex slot rather than a pure Fire party.

  • Core: one heavily invested Fire Pal for the Grass side of the typing.
  • Flex: a Dragon Pal to punish the Dark side and to give you an answer when the Fire Pal is on cooldown or down.
  • Bring a lifesteal option. Felbat with Life Steal or Lovander with Heart Drain forgives the mistakes that Dark burst normally converts into a wipe.
  • Keep High Grade Medical Supplies on the hotbar, not in a chest at base. This is the fight where players discover they packed the cheap tier.

The Forbidden Laboratory gauntlet

The Laboratory is the odd clear of the three because it is a sequence rather than a single boss with a single weakness. Treat it like a dungeon run with a boss door at the end: pack for sustain and ammo rather than for one element, and expect to burn consumables you would normally hoard.

  • Bring coverage, not a counter. Two elements across your six is better than four copies of one.
  • Pack ammo for your primary and a backup weapon in the second holster slot. Durability, not damage, is what ends failed runs here.
  • Clear adds before pushing. Reinforcements in World Tree content cannot be captured, so there is no reason to save spheres for them.
  • Bank your progress. Fast travel out, restock, and come back rather than pushing the final door on fumes.

After the three clears

Three guardian clears plus the Key Sphere set drops the inner barrier and opens Zenara and Astralym. Astralym carries no element tag in our extract and shifts form mid-fight, so build for raw damage and survivability rather than hunting a counter that the data does not support. Radiant Gems and the awakening system are the reward loop that follows, and both have their own pages.

Common questions

Short answers for searches that should land here, with links to the item, map pin, or related guide when you need more detail.

How many World Tree guardians do you have to beat in Palworld?
Three. Silvance at the Shinespore Root, Dandilord at the Rotmist Root, and the Forbidden Laboratory gauntlet. All three clears plus the Key Sphere set are needed before the inner Sealed Sanctum barrier drops. Unlock checklist
What is Silvance weak to in Palworld?
Silvance is pure Grass in the 1.0 data, so Fire is the clean counter. There is no second element on the typing, which makes it the most straightforward of the three guardian clears. Silvance
What is Dandilord weak to in Palworld?
Dandilord is Grass and Dark. Fire still hits the Grass half, but the Dark half means you want a Dragon Pal in a flex slot and a lifesteal option active rather than a party of pure Fire attackers. Dandilord
Do you need Holy Water for the World Tree guardian fights?
You need it to survive the Foot of the World Tree deep zone on the way there. Drink before you engage with resource nodes or push toward a root, because the hazard timer does not care that you are mid-fight. Holy Water
