Palworld Egg Incubators: Every Tier, Level, and Ancient Point Cost
Quick answer
Five. Egg Incubator (level 10), Electric Egg Incubator (level 36), Large Incubator (level 48), Large-scale Electric Egg Incubator (level 58), and Ancient Hatchery (level 76). All five are Ancient Technologies and together they cost 24 Ancient Technology Points.
There are five hatching structures in Palworld 1.0 and the full ladder costs 24 Ancient Technology Points. Four of the five are also locked behind a specific tower boss, which is why players hit a wall at level 36.
Palworld 1.0 has five hatching structures, and every one of them is Ancient Technology rather than a normal tech unlock. The ladder runs Egg Incubator at level 10 for 1 Ancient Point, Electric Egg Incubator at level 36 for 5, Large Incubator at level 48 for 5, Large-scale Electric Egg Incubator at level 58 for 5, and Ancient Hatchery at level 76 for 8. That is 24 Ancient Points for the complete set, out of the 182 the whole ancient tree costs.
The part that catches people out is not the point cost. It is that four of the five are boss technologies, so the level requirement is only half the gate. If you are level 40 and the Electric Egg Incubator is still greyed out, the Desert Boss is the reason.
The full incubator ladder
- Egg Incubator, level 10, 1 Ancient Point, requires the Grass Boss. One egg at a time and the only one you need before you start breeding seriously.
- Electric Egg Incubator, level 36, 5 Ancient Points, requires the Egg Incubator plus the Desert Boss. This is the first big jump and the first hard stop for most players.
- Large Incubator, level 48, 5 Ancient Points, requires the Snow Boss. Multi-egg capacity without needing a power grid.
- Large-scale Electric Egg Incubator, level 58, 5 Ancient Points, requires the Viking Boss. Multi-egg plus the temperature handling.
- Ancient Hatchery, level 76, 8 Ancient Points. The single most expensive structure in the hatch line and the endgame answer.
Egg Incubator
Level 10, 1 ancient point
Place a Pal Egg inside to incubate it.
Electric Egg Incubator
Level 36, 5 ancient points
Large Incubator
Level 48, 5 ancient points
Device for incubating Pal eggs. It automatically maintains a suitable temperature and can hatch multiple eggs at once.
Large-scale Electric Egg Incubator
Level 58, 5 ancient points
Device for incubating Pal eggs. While power supply is required, it allows multiple eggs to be incubated simultaneously at the optimal temperature.
Ancient Hatchery
Level 76, 8 ancient points
An advanced breeding facility of ancient civilization technology, enclosed in electronic glass. It fully automates everything from egg production to incubation at high speed, and increases the inheritance rate of rare skills. Pals are managed through holograms, it requires minimal pasture space.

Open technology treeWhich tier is actually worth the points
If you are budgeting Ancient Points rather than collecting everything, the honest ranking is that the base Egg Incubator is mandatory, the Large Incubator is the best value in the ladder, and the electric tiers are quality-of-life you can defer. The Ancient Hatchery is an endgame convenience, not a breeding requirement, and 8 points buys a lot elsewhere in the tree.
- Level 10, spend the 1 point immediately. You cannot breed without a place to hatch.
- Level 48, prioritise the Large Incubator over the level 36 electric tier if you skipped it. Capacity beats temperature management when you are running a real breeding loop.
- Level 58 and 76 are for players who have already cleared the rest of their ancient shopping list. Both are convenience upgrades on a system that already works.
- Build more than one of whatever tier you have. Nothing stops you placing several incubators at the same base, and that is cheaper than climbing the ladder.
Hatchery versus Breeding Farm, side by side, if you are deciding what to unlock first.
Hatchery vs FarmWhat all 51 ancient technologies cost and where the 182 points go.
Ancient pointsThe Breeding Farm sits outside this ladder
Worth saying plainly because the two get conflated constantly: the Breeding Farm is a separate Ancient Technology at level 19 for 2 Ancient Points, gated behind the Forest Boss. It produces eggs. Incubators hatch them. You need one of each before a breeding base does anything, and unlocking two incubators with no farm is a common early mistake.
Breeding Farm
Level 19, 2 ancient points
Assign a male and a female Pal to produce eggs. Cake is required for breeding.
Pal Essence Condenser
Level 14, 2 ancient points
Combines several Pals of the same type to create a higher-ranked version.
Plan the parent pairing before you build anything, then work backwards.

- How many egg incubators are there in Palworld?
- Five. Egg Incubator (level 10), Electric Egg Incubator (level 36), Large Incubator (level 48), Large-scale Electric Egg Incubator (level 58), and Ancient Hatchery (level 76). All five are Ancient Technologies and together they cost 24 Ancient Technology Points. Technology tree
- Why is the Electric Egg Incubator locked in Palworld?
- It is a boss technology. Level 36 is only half the requirement, and you also need the base Egg Incubator unlocked plus the Desert Boss defeated. Three of the other four hatching structures have similar boss gates.
- How many Ancient Points does the Ancient Hatchery cost?
- Eight Ancient Technology Points at level 76, which makes it the most expensive structure in the hatching line. It is a convenience upgrade rather than a breeding requirement, so most players unlock it late. Hatchery vs Farm
- Can you build more than one incubator in Palworld?
- Yes, and it is usually the better move. Placing several copies of the incubator tier you already own costs ordinary build materials instead of Ancient Points, so wide beats tall until you are genuinely out of build space.
