Genetic Recombination is the system that lets high-value passive traits migrate across species through breeding. The goal is to capture a rare combat passive on a top-tier boss or Alpha and then walk it down a chain of pairings until it lands on the standard-tier Pal you actually want to use for work or combat. It is slower than a lucky wild roll, but far more reliable when you need the same result twice.

Why passives do not just transfer directly

Breeding in Palworld pulls a random subset of the combined parent passives into each egg, up to four slots, weighted by how many passives the parents share and how many total slots are filled. You cannot force a specific passive to land every time, which is exactly why a controlled, multi-generation chain beats a single one-shot pairing when the trait is rare.

Building the inheritance chain

Passives inherit probabilistically, so the reliable method is to concentrate the desired passives on an intermediate 'carrier' Pal first, then pair that carrier with your target species. Each generation you re-select the offspring that kept the passives you want and discard the rest. A dedicated carrier line also protects your main breeding species from accumulating unwanted junk passives during the process.
