Yakumo's partner skill turns it into something you can engineer: when you capture a wild Pal while mounted on a properly built Yakumo, there is a chance the wild Pal inherits Yakumo's own passive portfolio instead of keeping its random wild rolls.

The star-rating math

The duplication chance scales with Yakumo's star rating, reaching up to roughly a 30% chance at maximum to copy its exact passive set onto the captured target. Load your Yakumo with the four passives you want to seed, then farm the wild species you need in bulk. A fresh, un-condensed Yakumo gives a much lower chance, so the investment in star rank is what makes this worth setting up.

Setting up the donor Yakumo

• Breed or acquire the four passives you want to seed onto captures before condensing, changing the donor's passives later means starting the condenser investment over.

• Combine with breeding to lock the passives into a permanent line rather than relying on captures indefinitely.
• Target common, easy-to-catch species first to build confidence in the loop before spending spheres on rarer Pals.

Is this considered an exploit

Yakumo's duplication chance is a stated part of its partner skill, not a bug you are abusing. Some players still call it an exploit informally because it feels like it should not be this reliable, but it is a documented mechanic you can plan around openly rather than something that risks a hotfix removing your progress.

What it does not do

This mechanic only affects passives on the newly captured wild Pal. It does not change the target's element, base stats, or IVs, and it will not overwrite a wild Pal's existing rare passive with a worse one if the roll fails, the capture simply keeps its original wild passives that attempt.
