Palworld Gigantic Furnace Recipe Book: What to Smelt and Why

Quick answer

It sits on the Technology tree around the same level band as Hexolite crafting, roughly level 58. Check your own Technology list since unlock levels can shift slightly with patches.

The Gigantic Furnace is where mid-game ore anxiety becomes an assembly line. Know which recipes deserve the queue.

The Gigantic Furnace is the bulk smelting station for players who outgrew the small forge. Unlock it in Technology (level 58 band for Hexolite crafts), feed it ore and fuel, and assign Kindling Pals that will not get stolen by every other fire job in the base.

How to run it

  • Place the furnace near ore chests and ingot storage.
  • Lock Kindling specialists on the furnace with a Monitoring Stand when the base is busy.
  • Queue the ingots your current Technology crafts actually spend.
  • Pair with Mining and Transport so the hopper never idles.

Priority recipes

  • Hexolite: 1 Chromite + 1 Hexolite Quartz crafts into Hexolite (Technology level 58 band). First Hexolite armor and tools beat vanity metals.
  • Coralum Ingot: Coralum Ore + Coal into Coralum Ingot (Technology level 62 band). Queue it when those crafts unlock.
  • Do not fill the queue with vanity metals while Hexolite or Plasteel crafts are blocked.

Staffing the furnace without starving other jobs

A Gigantic Furnace with no dedicated Kindling Pal just sits there while your smaller forges do the actual work. Lock at least one Kindling specialist to it from the Monitoring Stand so it does not lose the job to whichever Pal wanders past first. Once the queue is stable, add a second Kindling Pal on a busy base so the furnace never idles between batches.

Layout tips

  • Put the furnace between your ore storage and your ingot storage, not off to one side. Every wasted step is a wasted second on a long smelting queue.
  • Pair Mining and Transport suitability nearby so raw ore keeps arriving without a manual restock run.
  • If you run multiple furnaces, split them by product (one line for Hexolite, one for Coralum) so the queue does not bounce between recipes.
  • Power matters less here than on turrets, but keep the furnace on the same grid as your other production so a brownout does not silently stall the queue.

What not to smelt

  • Vanity or decorative metal bars while Hexolite or Plasteel crafts are still blocked on ingredients. Sequence the queue around what you are actually missing.
  • Small batches you could have run through a regular forge. Save the Gigantic Furnace's bulk capacity for the recipes that actually need volume.
  • Recipes you have not unlocked in Technology yet. Confirm the unlock level before you plan a base around a craft you cannot queue.

Common questions

Short answers for searches that should land here, with links to the item, map pin, or related guide when you need more detail.

What level do I unlock the Gigantic Furnace in Palworld?
It sits on the Technology tree around the same level band as Hexolite crafting, roughly level 58. Check your own Technology list since unlock levels can shift slightly with patches. Open Technology
Why is my Gigantic Furnace not smelting anything?
Check power first, then confirm a Kindling-suitable Pal is actually assigned and not pulled onto a different job. An empty queue or missing ore in nearby storage will also stall it. Pals not transporting
Should I build a small forge or a Gigantic Furnace first?
Start with small forges early since they are cheap and enough for early Ingots. Add a Gigantic Furnace once Hexolite and Coralum recipes unlock and you need bulk smelting instead of a trickle.
Can I run Hexolite and Coralum Ingot in the same furnace?
Yes, but the queue processes one recipe at a time. If both metals are in demand, run a second Gigantic Furnace so one recipe does not stall the other while you wait for ore. Types of ore
