How to Breed Legendary Pals in Palworld: Same-Species Only List

Quick answer

No. Jetragon is same-species only. Catch or otherwise obtain one Jetragon, then breed Jetragon plus Jetragon with cake. Average CombiRank pairs will never roll a Jetragon egg.

Jetragon plus random parents will not invent a Jetragon egg. Many legendaries and subspecies only breed with themselves. Catch one, then clone it.

Normal breeding averages parent CombiRank and picks the closest breedable Pal. Same-species-only Pals skip that lottery. Once you own the first copy (wild catch, raid, or a unique fusion), put a male and female of that species in a Breeding Farm with cake. You cannot breed Jetragon from Relaxaurus plus Suzaku, and you cannot invent Paladius from random centaur parents. The game hard-locks those species to clone-only reproduction after you obtain one.

This page lists the legendaries and late subspecies players search most often. For every other Pal, open the Breed tab on /pals/[slug]#how-to-breed or the breeding calculator. Pathways helps when you have one gender and need the shortest catch or fusion route to a second.

The rule in plain English

  • Same-species-only means the CombiRank average will never invent that Pal from other parents.
  • Breeding Farm: male + female of that species, cake in the chest, incubate as usual.
  • Some subspecies still have a unique fusion (Frostallion + Helzephyr → Frostallion Noct). Always check the calculator before you assume wild-only.
  • Lower CombiRank is stronger on the ladder. Same-species clones keep that rank for further mutation planning.

Sort every breedable Pal by CombiRank.

    CombiRank 150Same-species

Frostallion clones with itself. Frostallion Noct is the Helzephyr unique path, then same-species once you have one.

  • Necromus portrait

    CombiRank 190Same-species

Necromus: tower / legend catch, then clone. Pair with Paladius for Holy/Dark party builds.

    CombiRank 180Same-species

Paladius follows the same catch-then-clone loop as Necromus.

Bellanoir from raids, then same-species when you want extras. Libero is the darker raid sister.

    CombiRank 160Same-species

Neptilius sits with the other ultra-low CombiRank legends on the clone list.

Blazamut Ryu: raid reward first, then same-species farm for extras and passives.

Also on the same-species list

  • Orserk, Grizzbolt, Lyleen / Lyleen Noct: often unique-combo or catch first, then same-species for volume.
  • Xenolord and other late mechs: treat as catch-or-unique, then clone.
  • Many Noct / Cryst / Ignis subspecies are same-species-only even when they are not full legendaries. Open that Pal's Breed tab (/pals/[slug]#how-to-breed).

How-to-breed landings

  • Each Pal has a Breed tab on /pals/[slug]#how-to-breed with parent tables when average breeding applies, plus same-species notes when it does not.
  • Use Breeding Pathways if you already own one copy and want the shortest path to a second gender.
  • Mutation mode only after the normal child is a species you are happy to upgrade.
  • Condense clone parents to four stars when you want faster ranch-style Partner Skills on offspring.
  • Keep one pristine male and female unmutated while you roll mutations on extras.

Catch-first vs raid-first legendaries

Wild legendaries such as Jetragon and Frostallion demand a capture run before any breeding. Raid bosses such as Bellanoir and Blazamut Ryu drop a guaranteed first copy, then same-species cloning takes over for extras, passives, and gender balance. Tower rewards and story encounters follow the same rule: obtain once through the intended gate, then breed two of the same species with cake in the pen.

  • Wild spawn: prepare Ultra or Legendary Spheres, status, and a mount for the chase.
  • Raid: learn phase patterns first. You only need one clean capture to start the clone farm.
  • Unique fusion: some subspecies (Frostallion Noct, Relaxaurus Lux) require one fusion egg before same-species rules apply.
  • Gender: breeding needs one male and one female. Pathways highlights missing gender steps.

Cake choice when cloning

Same-species breeding still rolls passives, talents, and mutation like any other egg. Use basic Cake or Mushroom Cake when you want cheap volume for gender pairs. Switch to Special Cake when four parent passives must land on the child. Use Extravagant Vegetable Cake only after the species line is correct and you are chasing mutations. Vegetable Cake doubles egg count but does not bypass the same-species lock.

Common questions

Short answers for searches that should land here, with links to the item, map pin, or related guide when you need more detail.

Can you breed Jetragon from other parents?
No. Jetragon is same-species only. Catch or otherwise obtain one Jetragon, then breed Jetragon plus Jetragon with cake. Average CombiRank pairs will never roll a Jetragon egg. How to breed Jetragon
How do I breed Frostallion Noct?
Frostallion Noct is a unique fusion: Frostallion plus Helzephyr produces the Noct egg. After you own Frostallion Noct, further copies are same-species only. Standard Frostallion still clones with itself separately. How to breed Frostallion
Why won't my legendary parents make an egg?
Check gender (one male, one female), cake in the Breeding Farm chest, and that both parents are the exact same species codename. Different subspecies (for example Frostallion vs Frostallion Noct) do not count as the same pair. Breeding calculator
Does CombiRank matter for same-species clones?
The child species is fixed, but CombiRank still matters for mutation planning and how the child compares on the breeding ladder. Lower CombiRank is stronger. Clone parents with the rank you want on the offspring line. CombiRank list
