Best Logging Pals in Palworld (1.0 Rankings)

Quick answer

Best Logging Pals in Palworld: top 5 Early, Mid, and End picks ranked by work-task priority, dedicated suitability, and nocturnal coverage.

Wood never stops mattering. Logging level, priority order, and locks decide who actually chops instead of wandering off.

Logging fells trees at the logging site. Suitability and work speed set chop rate; run speed cuts travel waste. Transport is a separate haul job, and Logging Site's low priority means most multi-role deer and lumberjacks need a lock to actually chop.

On the default work task priority chart, Lumbering (Site) sits at priority 15 (lower number wins). That single number explains most “why won’t this Pal do their job?” tickets: competing suitabilities with a better (lower) rank steal the worker before Lumbering (Site) ever starts.

How Lumbering (Site) actually fails at bases

Logging Site ties with Mining Site at priority 15: one of the lowest ranks on the chart. Ranch, Generating, Repair, Kindling, Cooking, Harvest, Planting, Watering, Medicine, and Handiwork all outrank it, so a Pal with any of those suitabilities chops last, not first. Dedicated loggers, or a hard lock, are the only way timber output stays predictable.

If you only remember one rule for Lumbering (Site): either field a Pal whose competing jobs are intermittent (Defense, Aid, Extinguish, Repair, Construction), lock the job on a Monitoring Stand, or use a dedicated Pal with nothing better to do. Multi-role “best stats” picks without a lock are how Lumbering (Site) queues stall overnight.

How we ranked these

  • Task priority first: prefer Pals that actually stay on Lumbering (Site) — dedicated workers, Pals whose competing suitabilities lose to it, or a Monitoring Stand lock.
  • Dedicated loggers first: Eikthyrdeer, Silvegis, Fenglope, and Elphidran have no competing suitability, so they never wander.
  • Base buff: Eikthyrdeer Terra's partner skill adds +1 Logging to every other Base Pal. Field him even at Lv2.
  • Gathering doubles as two different jobs: Farm-Harvest at priority 10 (which beats Logging outright) and World-Spawn Harvesting at priority 18 (which loses to it). On a base with a plantation, a Gathering/Logging Pal such as Celesdir picks crops before it ever picks up an axe.
  • Mining Site and Logging Site are tied at priority 15, so a Pal with both (Bastigor, Cryolinx Terra) splits time between ore and timber rather than reliably doing either. Lock one off.
  • Nocturnal coverage: Cawgnito and Bushi Noct chop at night, and Celesdir Noct is the nocturnal End option once Logging is locked.
  • Obtainability: Eikthyrdeer is an early wild catch; Eikthyrdeer Terra is a short breed or Mid catch; Silvegis and Celesdir are End dungeon pals.
  • Top 5 per phase. The same Pal can stay best across Mid and End when nothing easier to field beats it.
  • Tap any Pal for full stats, passives, and breeding routes on PalSphere.

Why does your Medicine Pal keep planting, or your fridge Pal keep mining?

Quick comparison: what to look for

  • Dedicated Lumbering (Site) Pals beat higher-level multi-role picks that never show up.
  • Partner-skill base buffs (+1 to every other worker) often outrank one more raw suitability level.
  • Keep at least one nocturnal option so the job does not sleep through the night.
  • Condenser and passives raise speed — they do not change default priority order.

Monitoring Stand and job locks

Open the Monitoring Stand, pick the worker, and lock Lumbering (Site) when their other suitabilities outrank it. Locks are not a crutch — they are the normal way to run dual-role Pals in 1.0. Remove the lock only when you intentionally want them to backfill another job.

  • Lock Lumbering (Site) on any Pal whose plant / ranch / generate / kindling / harvest / transport ranks beat it.
  • Keep at least one unlocked “floater” for Repair / Construction so builds and broken benches still get fixed.
  • Re-check locks after you condense or swap passives — work speed changes do not change priority order.

Early game

Eikthyrdeer is the one truly reliable early timber Pal. Everything else needs Logging locked over Kindling, Ranch, or Planting.

Early Lumbering (Site) is about uptime, not perfect end-game stats. Prefer catches you can field tonight over a breeding project that leaves the bench empty for a week.

Kindling (8) always wins over Logging (15) on his own list: a great furnace-and-timber combo once Logging is locked.

Ranch (5) beats Logging (15) here, so lock Logging on this nocturnal crow or he ranches bones instead of chopping.

Mid game

Eikthyrdeer Terra's Logging +1 buff is the Mid priority. Elphidran and Reindrix are clean no-lock choppers beside it.

Mid game is when partner-skill base buffs and nocturnal coverage matter. If two Pals share a similar Lumbering (Site) level, take the one that buffs the rest of the base or works while others sleep.

End game

Silvegis is the only End pick that needs no lock. Celesdir, Celesdir Noct, and Hartalis all need Logging locked over Farm-Harvest.

End-game Lumbering (Site) is rarely “highest suitability number wins.” Condensed passives, Monitoring Stand locks, and not stealing workers for Ranch or Generating usually beat one more raw level.

Mining and Logging Site tie at priority 15 on his list, so he splits between ore and timber unless you lock one off.

Common mistakes

  • Staffing Lumbering (Site) with a high-stat multi-role Pal and never locking the job — then wondering why they ranch or plant all night.
  • Ignoring nocturnal coverage so the entire clinic / fridge / forge sleeps at once.
  • Breeding for work speed before you have a stable cake + food loop — hungry workers abandon ${label} regardless of rank.
  • Forgetting transporters: finished goods sitting on the bench still look like a ${label} failure.
