Palworld Pal Dressing Facility: Unlock, Pal Skins, and How to Apply Them

Quick answer

Technology level 2 for 1 Ancient Technology Point. It sits on the regular Technology tree, needs no power, and requires no assigned Pal.

It unlocks at Technology level 2 for a single Ancient point, and most players walk past it for eighty levels without ever building it.

The Pal Dressing Facility is the building that applies skins to your Pals. Its in-game description is refreshingly blunt: give your Pals a new look, and skins obtained inside and outside the game can be applied here. The surprising part is the unlock, because it sits at Technology level 2 for one Ancient Technology Point.

Unlock and placement

  • Technology level 2, on the regular Technology tree rather than the Ancient one.
  • 1 Ancient Technology Point.
  • No power requirement and no assigned Pal. It is furniture that does a job when you interact with it.
  • Build it near your Palbox. You interact with it directly and you will want the Pal you are dressing close by.

Being available at level 2 is easy to misread as a sign it is useless. It is not useless, it is just gated by content rather than by tech. The building is ready long before you own a single skin to put in it.

Confirm the unlock row on your own Technology tree.

Where Pal skins come from

This is the honest answer most guides dodge: Pal skins in 1.0 are rare, and there are far fewer of them than there are player cosmetics. The building explicitly supports skins from inside and outside the game, which is why the list on your save may not match somebody else's.

  • In-game rewards: quest and event cosmetics, such as Zoe's Halloween Costume, which comes as a consumable skin plus a matching schematic.
  • Outside the game: promotional, event, and platform rewards that get applied to your account rather than earned in world.
  • Seasonal events are the main renewable source, so a skin missing from your list may simply not be available in your save's current event window.

Applying a skin without breaking anything

Skins are appearance only, exactly like the gear override on the Antique Dresser. Nothing about the Pal underneath changes, which means you can dress your fully invested main without any anxiety.

  • Stats stay. Health, Attack, and Defence are untouched.
  • Passive skills stay. A skin does not reroll or remove anything.
  • Condenser stars stay, and so does work suitability.
  • Level and Trust stay. You are changing a model, not the Pal.
  • Take the Pal out of your party and into your base so it is present at the facility.
  • Interact with the Pal Dressing Facility.
  • Pick the Pal, then pick from the skins you have unlocked.
  • Skins are usually species-tied, so a costume made for one Pal will not appear as an option on another.

Common confusions

  • This is not the Antique Dresser. That building handles your character and your equipped gear.
  • This is not Pal Gear. Saddles and harnesses are functional equipment on their own tech rows, not cosmetics.
  • An empty skin list is normal on a fresh save. The building unlocks long before the content that fills it.
  • Skins are per Pal, not per species. Applying one to your Grizzbolt does not dress every Grizzbolt you own.

Is it worth building?

Yes, because it costs one Ancient point and thirty seconds. Build it whenever you happen to be spending points, then forget about it until a skin lands in your inventory. There is no reason to plan around it and no reason to skip it.

Common questions

Short answers for searches that should land here, with links to the item, map pin, or related guide when you need more detail.

What level is the Pal Dressing Facility in Palworld?
Technology level 2 for 1 Ancient Technology Point. It sits on the regular Technology tree, needs no power, and requires no assigned Pal. Open Technology
How do you get Pal skins in Palworld?
Skins come from in-game quest and event rewards, such as Zoe's Halloween Costume, plus promotional and platform rewards applied from outside the game. The facility description confirms both sources are supported.
Does applying a Pal skin change stats in Palworld?
No. Skins are appearance only. Stats, passive skills, condenser stars, work suitability, level, and Trust all stay exactly as they were.
Why is my Pal skin list empty in Palworld?
Because the building unlocks at Technology level 2, long before most skins exist on your save. Pal skins in 1.0 are rare and largely event-driven, so an empty list on a new world is expected rather than a bug.
