Palworld: What to Grind Now Before the Next Content Drop

Quick answer

Bounty tokens, Ancient Technology Points, World Tree Holy Water, Ancient Pal Manuscripts, and Giant Pal Souls. All five have permanent sinks that no content drop has ever removed, and most of them can be farmed passively.

Every Palworld update lands on players who spent the quiet weeks banking the right things or the wrong ones. Here is the list that has held up across every previous drop.

The gap between content drops is the cheapest time to build. Nobody is racing you, the guides are settled, and everything you bank now is time you do not spend farming when there is new content to actually play. The trick is knowing which stockpiles survive an update and which ones evaporate the moment the meta shifts.

Bank these

Currencies that buy anything

  • Bounty tokens. The vendor counter sells implants, Kinship Peach, stat fruits, and Ripe Starfruit, and none of those go out of style.
  • Battle Tickets as the secondary fruit and implant currency.
  • Gold Coin, because merchants always matter and it is the one currency every future system will accept.
  • Ancient Technology Points. New content usually means new Ancient unlocks, and arriving with a budget beats grinding one afterward.

Materials with permanent sinks

  • World Tree Holy Water. It weighs 0.1 now and feeds Awakening crystals at 10 each plus the Paloxite line, so a deep stack costs almost nothing to hold.
  • Ancient Pal Manuscripts and finished Training Manuals, so a new hatch or a new species goes straight to cap.
  • Giant Pal Souls. Statue of Power tracks need 30 per track and that requirement will not shrink.
  • Ingots, Plasteel components, and crude oil, since every crafting tier so far has been built on the last one.

Consumables

Sacred water brimming with the energy of the World Tree. It purifies all things and awakens latent powers. When consumed, World Tree resources will not vanish when approached for a period of time.

Ancient Pal Manuscript

Materials

An ancient manuscript written on Pal hide. It may be found by Pals during expeditions. Required for advancing research.

Giant Pal Soul

Giant Pal Soul

Materials

The soul left behind by a highly trained Pal. It can draw out hidden abilities if offered to a Statue of Power.

Successful Bounty Token

Materials

A token of having defeated a bounty target. By giving it to a Vigilante Bounty Officer in villages or towns, it can be exchanged for a reward.

The four things worth a dedicated chest

Build these

Infrastructure keeps paying regardless of what ships next, and it is the part you cannot rush later. A base that produces while you are exploring new content is worth more than any single stockpile.

  • More Expedition Stations. Manuscript and material income scales linearly with station count and runs while you are offline.
  • A finished breeding setup with clean donor pairs, so you can chase a new species immediately rather than starting a passive hunt from scratch.
  • An oil base that actually keeps up, now that extractors are cheaper and faster after v1.0.3.
  • A logging base, since the doubled Fiber from trees means the same footprint pays twice what it used to.
  • Defended remote bases. New content usually means you are away from home more.

Cheaper extractors and how to lay out an oil base properly.

Fiber farming

Finish one Pal properly

A single fully built Pal carries you through new content far better than six half-built ones. Bred for passives, levelled with manuals, condensed to four stars, fed a maxed soul track, and awakened. That Pal stays relevant across updates because every one of those systems is permanent.

The exact order to build one Pal without wasting a step.

Investment workflow

Do not bother with these

  • Hoarding food. It spoils, it is cheap to remake, and cooking scales with your base rather than your chest.
  • Stacking low-tier spheres. Capture Power and higher tiers make them irrelevant faster than you expect.
  • Massive stacks of common ore with no craft in mind. Ore is easy to farm and heavy to hold.
  • Filling storage with duplicate Pals that are not condenser fodder for a species you actually use.
  • Chasing every cosmetic craft before the loops that fund them are running.

A two week plan

  • Week one: set every Expedition Station you can build, run a bounty lap most evenings, and bank tokens without spending them.
  • Week one: rebuild the oil and logging bases around the post-patch costs.
  • Week two: run predator routes after dark for Giant Pal Souls, and start a soul track on your carry.
  • Week two: finish the breeding project you have been putting off, then level the hatch with the manual stockpile you just built.
  • Both weeks: keep a Holy Water stack topped up, since it now costs almost nothing to carry.

The endgame loop order this plan is built on.

Common questions

Short answers for searches that should land here, with links to the item, map pin, or related guide when you need more detail.

What should I farm in Palworld before the next update?
Bounty tokens, Ancient Technology Points, World Tree Holy Water, Ancient Pal Manuscripts, and Giant Pal Souls. All five have permanent sinks that no content drop has ever removed, and most of them can be farmed passively. Endgame checklist
Is it worth stockpiling materials between Palworld updates?
Selectively. Bank currencies and materials with permanent sinks such as Holy Water, manuscripts, and Giant Pal Souls. Skip food, low-tier spheres, and bulk common ore, since those are cheap to remake and expensive to store.
How many Expedition Stations should I build?
More than you currently have. Manuscript and material income scales with station count and runs while you are offline, which makes stations the highest-value infrastructure to add during a quiet period. Expeditions guide
Should I finish one Pal or several before new content?
One, properly. A Pal that is bred for passives, levelled, condensed to four stars, fed a maxed soul track, and awakened outperforms several half-finished Pals and stays relevant across updates because every one of those systems is permanent. Investment workflow
