Palworld Passive Skills Tier List 1.0

Quick answer

The game's own data puts Artisan, Ferocious, Burly Body, Swift, Diet Lover, Workaholic, Vanguard, and the element emperor passives at rank 3. Legend and Lucky sit at rank 4. Which one is best depends entirely on whether the Pal fights or works.

Palworld ranks its own passives internally from rank 5 down to minus 3. Here is that ranking translated into what you should actually breed, implant, and throw away.

Palworld's own data assigns every passive a rank from 5 down to minus 3. Rank 3 is the main combat and work tier and includes Artisan, Ferocious, Burly Body, Swift, Diet Lover, Workaholic, Vanguard, and the element emperor passives. Rank 4 is a thinner premium band that includes Legend and Lucky. Rank 5 is the rare World Tree / late-game extreme set. Negative ranks such as Slacker, Brittle, and Pacifist actively reduce performance and should be bred or implanted out.

There are 121 passives in the catalog, so a flat list is useless. The useful question is which high-rank passive matters for the job the Pal is doing, because most of them are role specific.

Rank 3: combat

  • Ferocious: the top flat attack passive. First pick on almost any damage dealer.
  • Burly Body: the top flat defence passive. First pick on a tank or a mount you ride into fights.
  • The element emperor line: Divine Dragon, Lord of Lightning, Ice Emperor, Flame Emperor, Lord of the Sea, Spirit Emperor, Earth Emperor, Lord of the Underworld, and Celestial Emperor. Each boosts one element and stacks with matching skills.
  • Swift: the top movement passive, rank 3, and better on mounts and haulers than on stationary fighters.

Same-type attack bonus maths, so you know when an element passive beats a flat attack passive.

Rank 4: premium generalists

  • Legend: Attack +20%, Defense +20%, Movement Speed +15%. The broad legendary combat package.
  • Lucky: Attack +15%, Defense +15%, Work Speed +20%. Strong hybrid passive, and the guaranteed trait on wild Lucky Pals.
  • Remarkable Craftsmanship: Work Speed +75%. Pure crafting speed specialist above Artisan.
  • Diamond Body, Immortality, Invader, Savior, Siren of the Void, and the other rank 4 names: check the individual passive pages before you burn an implant slot.

Wild Lucky Pals are larger, glowing, and chime. Hunting them is not the same as rolling Lucky after a normal catch.

Rank 3: base work

  • Artisan: the top work speed passive in the common rank 3 band. Applies to work actions such as crafting, mining, and watering.
  • Workaholic: the top sanity reduction passive. A worker that does not need breaks out-produces a faster one that does.
  • Diet Lover: the top food consumption reduction. Directly reduces how much your base has to feed itself.
  • Motivational Leader, Mine Foreman, and Logging Foreman: trainer passives that buff your other Pals rather than the carrier.
  • Vanguard and Stronghold Strategist: trainer passives that raise player attack and defence while the Pal is in party.

The middle ranks

Rank 1 and rank 2 passives are the lower tiers of the same lines. Serious is the rank 2 version of Artisan, Brave is the rank 1 version of Ferocious, Hard Skin is the rank 1 version of Burly Body, and Runner is the rank 2 version of Swift. They are not bad, they are placeholders until the rank 3 version lands.

  • Musclehead sits at rank 2 and is a genuine special case, worth its own guide rather than a line in a list.
  • The element damage reduction lines run rank 1 to rank 3 and are situational, useful when you know the boss element.
  • Heat Resistant and Cold Resistant lines run rank 1 to 3 and matter for base Pals in extreme biomes.
  • The collector passives such as Egg Layer, Milk Maker, and Wool Maker sit at rank 1 but are mandatory for Ranch output.

Negatives worth removing

Negative-rank passives are the reason a good Pal underperforms. They occupy a slot and subtract from the stat you care about. The minus 3 entries are the worst offenders.

  • Slacker at minus 3 and Clumsy at minus 1: work speed penalties. Fatal on a crafting Pal.
  • Brittle at minus 3 and Downtrodden at minus 1: defence penalties.
  • Pacifist at minus 3 and Coward at minus 1: attack penalties. Fatal on a damage dealer.
  • Bottomless Stomach at minus 2 and Glutton at minus 1: food consumption penalties on a base Pal.
  • Destructive at minus 2 and Unstable at minus 1: sanity penalties, which compound with every other base problem.

Implants overwrite a slot, which is the fastest way to delete a negative passive.

How to use this list

  • Pick the role first. A rank 3 combat passive on a base Pal is a wasted slot and vice versa.
  • Remove negatives before adding positives. A minus 3 passive undoes a rank 3 one.
  • Breed when you need many copies, implant when you have one finished Pal you care about.
  • Search any passive by name to see which species roll it naturally.

Which Palworld passives are bad?
The negative-rank ones. Slacker, Brittle, and Pacifist sit at minus 3 and directly subtract from work speed, defence, and attack. Destructive and Bottomless Stomach at minus 2 hurt sanity and food consumption on base Pals.
How many passive skills are in Palworld?
The passive catalog contains 121 entries, including the rank tiers of each line, the element boost and resistance families, the trainer passives, and the negative passives. Passive catalog
Should I breed or implant passives in Palworld?
Breed when you need many copies of a Pal and can run eggs in volume. Implant when you have one Pal you have already condensed and awakened, because rebreeding that investment from scratch costs far more than an implant does. Passive inheritance odds
