How to Use the Palworld PalDex: Filters, Sorts, and Worked Examples

Quick answer

288 Paldeck entries, with Paldeck numbers up to 204. 84 of them are element variants. 87 Pals have two elements and 70 are nocturnal.

A Paldeck list tells you what exists. A good PalDex answers the real question: which Pal should I catch for this job? Here is how to get that answer in three clicks.

The PalSphere PalDex lists all 288 Paldeck entries with work suitability, elements, stats, partner skills, and mount type. It is built to answer questions, not just to scroll. Filter down to a shortlist, sort it by what matters, then open one Pal's page for where it spawns, how to breed it, and what it drops. The worked examples below show the full loop for three common jobs.

Open the live PalDex and follow along.

What is in the roster

  • 288 Paldeck entries. Paldeck numbers run to 204, and 84 entries are element variants such as Ignis, Cryst, or Noct forms.
  • Elements: Dark 70, Water 47, Grass 46, Ground 44, Fire 43, Ice 38, Neutral 36, Electric 25, Dragon 25.
  • 87 Pals carry two elements, so element counts add up to more than 288.
  • 70 Pals are nocturnal and keep working through the night.
  • Mount types: 29 flying, 77 ground, and 9 water.
  • 258 Pals have wild spawn areas on the interactive map. The rest come from eggs, breeding, or special encounters.

The filters and what each one solves

  • Search: type a name or a Paldeck number.
  • Sort: 15 orders, including PalDex number, HP, Attack, Defense, Work Speed, Work Score, Travel Speed, Run Speed, and Transport Speed.
  • Condenser: preview a Pal at 1 to 4 stars. Each star adds 5% HP, Attack, and Defense and raises work levels.
  • Element: pick one or more elements. Turn on Exact element match to find pure or specific dual types.
  • Work suitability: require a job, set a minimum level, or sort the list by that job's level.
  • Traits: Has partner skill, Has saddle, and Rare Variant.
  • Travel: Ground, Flying, or Water mounts.
  • Combat stats and Movement: minimum HP, Attack, Defense, Walk, Run, Ride, and Transport values.

Your filters are saved in the address bar as you click. Copy it to share an exact shortlist with a friend, or bookmark one you use every playthrough.

Worked example 1: the best Medicine worker

Medicine is the rarest job in the roster. Only 19 Pals have it, and none go above level 3. Require Medicine, then sort by Medicine level. The catch is that most Medicine Pals also plant, craft, or gather, and those jobs pull them away from the bench.

  • Felbat portrait

    Life Steal

    Medicine 3DedicatedMedicine3

Felbat has Medicine 3 and no other job, so nothing can pull it off the bench. Spawns day and night in 8 areas each.

  • Vaelet portrait

    Purification of Gaia

    Medicine 3Planting3Handiwork3Gathering3Medicine3Transport2Farming2

Vaelet matches Medicine 3 but also has Planting, Handiwork, Gathering, Transport, and Farming. Lock it to Medicine or it wanders off.

  • Prunelia portrait

    Prayer for Abundant Harvest

    Medicine 3Planting3Handiwork1Gathering2Medicine3Transport1

Prunelia has Medicine 3 with Planting 3 and Gathering 2. A good second clinic worker once farms are covered.

  • Lovander portrait

    Heart Drain

    Medicine 2Night onlyHandiwork3Mining2Medicine2Transport2

Lovander has Medicine 2 with Handiwork 3. It only spawns at night, in 39 areas, so hunt it after dark.

Filter: Work suitability, Medicine, sorted highest first.

Worked example 2: a flying mount

Set Travel to Flying and turn on Has saddle. Then sort by Travel Speed. 16 Pals pass both filters. Lower Paldeck numbers tend to live in earlier areas, so start at the top of a number sort.

  • Nitewing portrait
    NitewingPaldeck #051

    Travel Companion

    #51Early

Nitewing is the earliest flyer at Paldeck #51, with a ride sprint speed of 750. It has 17 spawn areas.

  • Helzephyr portrait

    Wings of Death

    #80Mid

Helzephyr jumps to 1,100 sprint speed and hauls with Transport 4. More spawn areas at night (42) than day (23).

  • Ragnahawk portrait
    RagnahawkPaldeck #104

    Flame Wing

    #104Mid

Ragnahawk hits 1,300 sprint speed and brings Kindling 4 and Transport 5 home.

  • Frostallion portrait

    Icy Steed

    #200Late

Frostallion reaches 1,800 sprint speed. It ties with Frostallion Noct as the fastest of the 16 saddled flyers.

Filter: Travel Flying, Has saddle. Ride sprint speed in each note.

Worked example 3: a Kindling worker

Require Kindling and sort by Kindling level. 44 Pals have it. Then open the Habitat tab to see which top picks you can actually catch, because the best one does not spawn in the wild.

  • Renjishi portrait
    RenjishiPaldeck #183

    Stage Combat

    Kindling 8Kindling8Handiwork6Gathering5Transport5

Renjishi has the highest Kindling at level 8, plus Handiwork 6. It has no wild spawn area, so plan to breed it.

Common mistakes

  • Using Max work suitability (10) at base. No Pal starts above level 8, so the list stays empty until you set Condenser stars.
  • Picking the highest work level without checking other jobs. Multi-job Pals drift to Planting or Handiwork unless you lock them.
  • Forgetting night spawns. Lovander has no day spawn areas at all.
  • Assuming every top pick is catchable. Check the Habitat tab before you plan a hunt.

Quick answers

  • How many Pals are in the Paldeck? 288 entries.
  • Most common element? Dark, on 70 Pals.
