Elemental locks work differently
Elemental lock chests are a Pal puzzle rather than a tool check. Bring a Pal of the matching element and use it on the lock. Our extract shows the distribution is lopsided, so a single Water Pal in your party covers nearly half of every elemental lock in the game.
- 22 Water Lock Chests. The largest group by a clear margin, so keep a Water Pal in the party while exploring.
- 18 Electric Lock Chests. The second most common.
- 10 Fire Lock Chests. The smallest group and the easiest to cover, since most players carry a Fire Pal for Grass content anyway.

What else the chest layer contains
Not every chest is an ordinary loot box. The extract separates out 66 Long-Hold Chests, which need a sustained interact rather than a tap, plus a small set of graded Treasure Chests and 24 skill fruit chests. Those graded pins are the ones worth a detour, and there are only a couple of dozen of them in total.
