How to Get Leather in Palworld: Farms, Merchants, and Crafts

Leather is hide taken from a Pal. It is the defensive craft material behind early Pelt Armor, later Metal and Pal Metal armor, pouches, feed bags, and more than a hundred saddles and partner gear unlocks. Stack it to 9999. Merchants sell it for 200 Gold Coin, the same as its listed price.

Leather taken from a Pal, it serves as a defensive material. It can be obtained from certain Pals.

Currency traded on Palpagos Island. Can be exchanged for items or Pals with merchants.

Buy Leather (200 Gold)

Six Gold shops stock Leather at 200 Gold Coin each:

• Village Merchant, Desert Merchant, Volcano Merchant, and Dungeon Merchant (fixed).
• Traveling Caravan and Wandering Merchant (roaming).

Buying is fine for a handful of Pelt Armor pieces. Armor upgrades and late saddles need dozens to seventy Leather per craft, so farm Pals once you outgrow emergency buys.

Ranch: Surfent AFK Leather

Surfent is the Ranch Leather Pal. Partner skill Swift Swimmer: can be ridden on water, and sometimes drops Leather when assigned to a Ranch. Surfent Terra does not share that Ranch drop.

• Assign Surfent to a Ranch and leave it running while you clear Mammorest or Eikthyrdeer loops.
• Ranch Leather is chance-based ("sometimes"), so treat it as AFK income on top of kill farms, not a full replacement.
• Cinnamoth in the base still buffs Farming for every Ranch Pal, including Surfent.

Expeditions and field loot

• Expeditions: Mount Obsidian (Hard) and Windswept Island (Hard) can return 10-20 Leather at 100%. Strong AFK top-up once those Hard routes unlock.
• Field loot: rare single Leather rolls in Astral Mountains, Desiccated Dunes, Mount Obsidian, and Windswept Island. Treat as bonus, not a farm.

• Eidrolon Ignis Saddle and Neptilius Saddle: 48. Many other legend saddles sit around 40-43.
• About 121 partner gear / saddle recipes use Leather. Farm Mammorest before you unlock a pile of them at once.

Fast farm plan

• Early: Direhowl packs plus Galeclaw, Rushoar, Melpaca, and Vixy for Pelt Armor. Buy from a Village Merchant only if you are short a few hides.
• Base: park Surfent on a Ranch for AFK Leather while you explore.
• Mid: Eikthyrdeer and Chillet loops for 2-3 per kill while you push Metal Armor.
• Late: Mammorest / Mammorest Cryst for 5-10 per kill, then dump stacks into Pal Metal armor, Giant Feed Bag, and legend saddles. Use Hard expeditions as AFK backup.
