Palworld Ultra Raid Team Building: Roles, Prep, and What to Bring

Quick answer

Bellanoir Libero, Blazamut Ryu, Hartalis, and Xenolord each have an Ultra Slab variant. Each Ultra Slab is built from that boss's Ultra Slab Fragments and offered at a Summoning Altar.

Ultra slab bosses are the hardest scripted content in Palworld 1.0. A team of six damage dealers loses. A team with defined roles clears.

Ultra raids are the top of Palworld's slab ladder. Four bosses carry an Ultra variant, each summoned from an Ultra Slab built out of Slab Fragments, and each one punishes the same mistake: bringing a party of damage dealers with no sustain, no status pressure, and no plan for the arena itself.

The four Ultra slabs

Prep before you touch a slab

  • Summoning Altar unlocks at Technology level 33 as an Ancient technology. Build it before you start collecting fragments.
  • Summon on a dedicated raid pad or throwaway Palbox, never on your production base. Raid bosses flatten incubators and assembly lines you still need.
  • Bring more consumables than you think. Ultra fights run long and a wipe at 10 percent is a supply problem, not a skill problem.
  • Pre-place walls to shape the arena. You want predictable geometry, not an open field where adds surround you.
  • Bank spare fragments before your first attempt so a wipe does not end the evening.

Confirm the Summoning Altar row and your Ancient point budget.

The six roles that actually matter

Raids let you field a large Pal team, which tempts people into stacking their six best attackers. The better construction assigns each slot a job. Note that most party-wide partner skills carry a does not stack tag, so duplicating a buff Pal is wasted space and the roster should be six different effects rather than three doubled ones.

  • Primary carry: your most invested Pal, condensed, soul-fed, and awakened. This is where your damage actually comes from.
  • Damage amplifier: a partner skill that raises your weapon or element damage, chosen to match the carry's type.
  • Status applier: something that lands a debuff the rest of the team can exploit. Dual status setups turn long fights into short ones.
  • Sustain: a heal or barrier so a single bad pattern does not restart the attempt.
  • Add control: something that handles the boss's summons while the carry stays on the main body.
  • Mount: your travel slot, and on some fights your emergency reposition.

Reading the four Ultra bosses

Each Ultra boss is the Ultra variant of a Pal you can also encounter through the normal slab ladder, which means the normal version is your practice run. Clear the standard slab first, learn the patterns while the damage is survivable, then step up. Skipping that step is the single most common reason players burn fragments without a clear.

  • Bellanoir Libero leans on Dark pressure and heavy targeted attacks.
  • Blazamut Ryu is the Dragon and Fire wall, so weak-point damage and elemental coverage matter.
  • Hartalis is the Normal-element endurance fight where sustain wins over burst.
  • Xenolord is Dark and Dragon with heavy aerial presence, so mobility and vertical awareness are the skill checks.
  • In all four cases, mechanics kill more attempts than raw boss damage does.

Gear the Pals, not just the player

Ultra raids are where under-invested Pals get exposed. A Pal at four condenser stars with a maxed Attack soul track and Awakening is a different creature from the same species fresh out of the pen. If your carry is not finished, farm the investment loops first rather than throwing fragments at the altar.

A note on reward tables

v1.0.3 corrected Moon Lord normal and Ultra Raid reward tables to their intended settings. If you were farming Ultra raids before the patch on the strength of a reward you saw in an old guide, verify it against your own clears now rather than assuming the old table still holds. The fights are unchanged. The payouts were adjusted.
