Palworld Cooking Setup: Pot, Electric Kitchen, and Ancient Kitchen
Quick answer
Level 17 for 2 technology points. It is a regular technology rather than an Ancient one, and it is the station you will use for most of a playthrough. The Electric Kitchen follows at level 41 and the Ancient Kitchen at level 70.
There are three cooking stations in Palworld 1.0 and they unlock 53 levels apart. Which one you have decides whether food buffs are a strategy or a chore you skip.
Palworld 1.0 has three cooking stations: the Cooking Pot at level 17 for 2 technology points, the Electric Kitchen at level 41 for 3, and the Ancient Kitchen at level 70 for 4. All three are regular technologies, so none of them costs Ancient Points, and the whole cooking line adds up to 9 technology points. Alongside them sits a cold chain of four tiers that exists purely to stop ingredients rotting before a Pal walks them to the station.
Food buffs in 1.0 are strong enough to change tower and raid outcomes, but only if the kitchen actually produces. The stations are cheap. The bottleneck is always ingredient logistics, and that is what this page is about.
The three stations
- Cooking Pot, level 17, 2 points. Your first real kitchen and the one you will use for most of the game.
- Electric Kitchen, level 41, 3 points. Faster throughput, needs a power grid to be worth placing.
- Ancient Kitchen, level 70, 4 points. Endgame convenience for players cooking in bulk.
Cooking Pot
Level 17, 2 points
Can efficiently prepare more varieties of foods.
Electric Kitchen
Level 41, 3 points
Needs electricity but can prepare high-quality food more efficiently. Requires Pal with Kindling suitability.
Ancient Kitchen
Level 70, 4 points
A special kitchen based on ancient technology that can create everything from existing dishes to entirely new recipes. It retains heat through fire and completes cooking with manual preparation, allowing it to prepare any kind of cuisine. It requires Pals with high-level Kindling and Handiwork suitability.

Food buffs in 1.0The cold chain is the real unlock
Four cold-storage tiers exist in 1.0 and players routinely skip all of them: Cooler Box at level 13 for 2 points, Cooler at level 18 for 2, Refrigerator at level 38 for 2, and Electric Cooler at level 42 for 3. Without one, high-value ingredients decay in the chest while your Pals get around to moving them, and the symptom looks identical to a broken recipe.
- Get the Cooler Box at level 13, before the Cooking Pot. Storage first, station second.
- Place cold storage adjacent to the cooking station so the transport hop is a single step.
- The Refrigerator at level 38 is the value pick. Two points for a proper decay reduction on a base that is by then producing real ingredients.
- Electric Cooler only makes sense once you have a generator running, which is a separate build decision.

Effigy typesStaffing the kitchen
Cooking is a work suitability, not a work speed check. A Pal with high work speed and no Kindling suitability will stand next to your Cooking Pot doing nothing, which is the most common reason a kitchen looks staffed but never produces. Assign on suitability first and let speed break the tie.
- Kindling Pals run the station. Check the work suitability chips on any Pal page before assigning.
- Plantation and ranch Pals feed it. A kitchen with no ingredient source is decoration.
- Set the priority on the Monitoring Stand. Cooking loses to mining by default on most base layouts.
- Keep the ingredient chest next to the station. Pal pathing weighs chest proximity heavily.

Work priorityWhere cake fits
Cake is a cooking recipe, so the kitchen is also your breeding infrastructure. The cake recipes spread across a wide level band in 1.0, with Mushroom Cake at level 30, Vegetable Cake at 47, Extravagant Vegetable Cake at 60, and plain Cake at 74, which means a breeding base built at level 35 is running a different recipe than one built at level 75. Build the kitchen inside the breeding camp rather than sending cake across the map.

- What level is the Cooking Pot in Palworld?
- Level 17 for 2 technology points. It is a regular technology rather than an Ancient one, and it is the station you will use for most of a playthrough. The Electric Kitchen follows at level 41 and the Ancient Kitchen at level 70. Technology tree
- Do you need a Refrigerator in Palworld?
- It is the highest-value cold storage tier for the points. Two technology points at level 38 for meaningful decay reduction on a base that is producing real ingredients by then. Without cold storage, ingredients rot in the chest and it looks like a broken recipe.
- Which Pals can cook in Palworld?
- Cooking stations run on the Kindling work suitability, not work speed. A fast Pal with no Kindling suitability will ignore the station entirely, so assign on suitability first and use work speed to break ties. Best Kindling Pals
- How many cooking stations are there in Palworld?
- Three: Cooking Pot at level 17, Electric Kitchen at level 41, and Ancient Kitchen at level 70. Together they cost 9 technology points and none of them requires Ancient Technology Points.
