How to Fish in Palworld 1.0: Rods, Bait, Party Pals and Salvaging

Fishing unlocks at level 15 with the Beginner Fishing Set. You need a rod, bait and water with visible fish shadows. Stronger shadows need a better rod, better bait and fishing Partner Skills, especially in Feybreak, Sunreach and World Tree seas. Mark fishing and salvage points on the interactive map before you sail.

How to unlock and start

• Open Technology and search for Fishing to unlock the Beginner Fishing Set.
• Craft a Beginner Fishing Rod and Simple Bait.
• Equip the rod, approach water and aim slightly above a moving shadow.
• Do not fight next to the shore; nearby fish can flee.

The fishing minigame

Cast near the shadow, wait for the bite, then keep the green control bar over the moving fish icon until the capture gauge fills. Holding the input drives the bar one way; releasing drives it back. Use short taps when the fish turns quickly. If the bar misses for too long, the gauge drops.

Rods and bait that matter

• Beginner rod (Lv15) → Intermediate (Lv29) → Advanced Pengullet (Lv45). Schematic rods (Gumoss / Croajiro / Depresso) are stronger; Depresso Advanced is the top craftable bar.
• Simple bait for easy shadows; High Quality mainly speeds bites; Deluxe enlarges the green bar; Alluring (Lv52) enlarges the bar and boosts item rewards.
• Save Alluring for talented shadows and late-game seas.

Best fishing party

One Gloopie slows gauge loss when you miss. One Jelliette increases fishing item drops. Whalaska and Whalaska Ignis each add separate fishing bonuses and can sit together. Solmora / Solmora Lux help talented shadows and double as Water mounts. Add Jellroy when you are salvaging; its bonus does not help normal fishing.

Salvaging and ponds

Ride a Water mount to floating wreckage, start salvage and hit the green timing window. Jellroy boosts salvage yields. Advanced salvage needs an Advanced rod, Powerful Fishing Magnets (Lv62) and late-game seas. At base, a Fishing Pond (Lv31) or Large Fishing Pond (Lv69) with a Handiwork Pal and bait automates catches while you explore.
