Condenser stars look like a side system until work suitability and combat floors start mattering. Here is what each star changes and how fodder feeds the machine.
The Pal Essence Condenser is how a keeper Pal climbs star rank. You feed it copies of the same species (or Starfruit), and the survivor jumps a rank. Stars scale Partner Skills and combat investment. They are not the same system as Pal Souls on the Statue of Power.
Unlock and what stars do
- Unlock Pal Essence Condenser at Technology level 14 (ancient tech).
- Each star rank raises the concentrated extract ceiling for that Pal. Partner Skills that list a range (for example fishing or ranch bonuses) climb toward the high end as stars rise.
- Combat Pals feel the rank in raw power. Base workers feel it when their Partner Skill is a base aura or production boost.
- Mutated Eggs can start already partway up the Condenser ladder, which skips early fodder.

Condenser vs Pal Souls (do not mix them up)
Condenser stars eat same-species Pals or Starfruit. Pal Souls (Small through Giant) feed the Statue of Power for permanent player and Pal stat tracks. Souls do not fill Condenser slots. When a guide says "feed souls," it means the Statue, not the Condenser.

- Breed or catch extras for fodder on easy species. Buy Starfruit with Dog Coins when the wild spawn is painful.
- Do not max-star every Dex entry. Rank 2-3 is enough for many temporary fighters.
- Pair Condenser stars with Work Suitability books when the Pal is a permanent base slot. Stars and books solve different ceilings.

You will never have enough fodder to max star every Pal you own, so triage matters. Start with your active fighting party, since Partner Skill scaling shows up immediately in every fight you take them into. Base workers come next, but only the ones sitting on a permanent job, not a temporary catch you plan to release later.
Fodder sourcing without wrecking your box
- Breed extras of easy, low-CombiRank species specifically for Condenser fodder instead of butchering Pals you might want to keep for another purpose.
- Buy Starfruit with Dog Coins when the wild spawn for that species is rare, dangerous, or simply annoying to farm in bulk.
- Keep a small buffer of common species on hand at all times. Running out of fodder mid-push just means a wasted trip back to the same farm route.
Condenser vs other permanent power systems
Condenser stars, Work Suitability books, Statue of Power Souls, and Trust all stack as separate systems on the same Pal. None of them replace another. A fully invested endgame Pal usually has all four running at once, so do not stop at Condenser stars and assume the job is finished.
