Best Transporting Pal in Palworld (And Why They Stop Hauling)
Quick answer
Eidrolon in the end game: Transport 6 with no other job, so it never stops hauling. Early on, Vanwyrm Cryst (Transport 3) hauls without a lock, and Helzephyr (Transport 4) is the mid-game dedicated pick.
Vanwyrm Cryst early, Helzephyr mid, Eidrolon late. Those three haul without a lock. Everyone else loses Transport to almost any other job, because general Transport sits at priority 17 of 19.
The best transporting Pal is the one that actually stays on the job. On the default work task chart, general Transport sits at priority 17 out of 19. Only World Spawn Harvesting (18) and Cooling (19) rank lower. So a Pal with Transport 5 and Mining 4 mines first and hauls only when the rocks run out.
That is why the quick pick list below favors three kinds of Pals: dedicated haulers with Transport as their only job, Pals whose other job ranks even lower than Transport, and strong multi-role Pals you are willing to lock. The Best Transport Pals ranking has the full top five per stage.

Both no-lock picks here carry Cooling as their only other job, and Cooling loses to Transport. They haul by default.

Why transporters stall: the priority chart
Pals do not pick jobs by suitability level. They pick the highest-priority job they are allowed to do, and lower numbers win. Transport shows up three times on the chart, which is where most confusion starts.
- Transport (Food): priority 10. Moving food is urgent, so it ties with farm Harvest.
- Transport (Floor): priority 16. Picking up loose items dropped on the ground.
- Transport: priority 17. General hauling from stations into chests.
- Everything from Ranch (5) through Mining and Lumbering (14-15) beats general Transport.
- Level, star rank, and passives never change priority. They only change how fast a Pal finishes the job it already chose.
Work Speed passives like Artisan do little for haulers, since carrying is movement, not a work action. Transport level, run speed, and being nocturnal matter more.
Troubleshooting checklist, in order
- Open each crafting station and turn on Allow Transport by Pals. It starts off, and finished goods stay on the bench until you enable it.
- Check that at least one Pal on the base has Transport. A base full of miners and crafters has nobody to haul.
- Look at each hauler's other jobs. Anything ranked above 17 wins first: Handiwork, Mining, Kindling, Planting, and more.
- Build a Monitoring Stand (level 7, 2 points) and disable every job except Transport on your haulers.
- Walk the path from station to chest. A wall, a closed door, or a chest outside the base circle stops haulers cold.
- Still slow? Add a second hauler on the far side of the base instead of one Pal covering everything.
Chest layout that keeps haulers moving
- Put a chest beside every busy station, not one big storage room across the base.
- Group input chests near the benches that consume them. Ore goes by the furnace, Wool by the workbench.
- Upgrade chests as you level: Wooden Chest at level 2, Metal Chest at 13, Refined Metal Chest at 39, Advanced Chest at 59.
- Keep a Feed Box close to the work area. Food hauling runs at priority 10 and pulls haulers away from general Transport.

Level 7 · locks jobs
Command your Pals to work on various things inside a base. You can allow or prohibit individual kinds of work.
Wooden Chest
Level 2
Stores items. Made from wood, it breaks easily. It's probably not the best thing to store valuables in.
Metal Chest
Level 13
Stores items. Reinforced with metal, it is somewhat durable. The increased size allows for the storage of more things.
Refined Metal Chest
Level 39
Stores items. Made of iron, it is extremely durable. It is useful as a large, secure storage box.

A rare book written about the secrets of Transporting. Allowing a Pal to read it permanently increases their Transporting affinity by +1.

Common hauling mistakes
- Picking the highest Transport level on paper. Knocklem at Transport 7 still mines first without a lock.
- Breeding Artisan onto a hauler. Work Speed does not speed up carrying.
- Forgetting Allow Transport by Pals on new stations. Every new bench starts with it off.
- Locking a Beakon to Transport while it is also your only generator. Power drops instead.
- Ignoring night shifts. Vanwyrm Cryst, Killamari, Helzephyr, and Eidrolon are all nocturnal.
