Oil Rig Encounters in Palworld: Anti-Air, Attack Chopper and Loot
Three Rayne Syndicate platforms sit offshore with escalating anti-air, oil-rig Pal variants, and an Attack Chopper fight on the Platform Oil Rig.
Oil rigs are compact, high-density PvE arenas. You approach under turret fire, clear the deck for chests and oil-rig Pal variants, then (on the top platform) survive an Attack Chopper when you crack the large chest. Anti-air turrets on the mid and Platform rigs punish flying mounts, so approach and combat planning matter as much as raw DPS.
The three platforms
Datamined world regions list three Rayne Syndicate oil platforms. Recommended levels are approximate; gear and party quality matter more than the number on the map.
- Rayne Syndicate Test Drilling Rig (Oilrig 2): around level 30. Earliest platform. Gun turrets and syndicate enemies, but little or no anti-air lock. Use this to learn the deck loop and loot rhythm.
- Rayne Syndicate Oil Rig (Oilrig 1): around level 55. Laser anti-air turrets lock flying mounts and knock you out of the sky mid-approach. Treat this as the first serious AA platform.
- Rayne Syndicate Platform Oil Rig (Oilrig 3, Feybreak waters): around level 60. Laser AA plus rocket AA. Destroyed rocket launchers stay down for the run; laser turrets can return. This is where the Attack Chopper spawns when you open the large chest.

Oil platforms are marked on the live map (filter to Oil Rig).
Open the World MapAnti-air lock: what actually happens
On the mid Oil Rig and Platform Oil Rig, anti-air defenses track flying mounts. Approach on Jetragon or another flyer and lasers (plus rockets on the Platform) keep hitting until you dismount, die, or get clear. Hybrid flyers such as Shadowbeak still count as aerial targets for AA.

Safe approaches that avoid AA lock:
- Swim or use a water mount (Surfent, Azurobe, and similar). Stay at sea level until you are under or against the structure, then climb onto the deck.
- Glide from a nearby cliff or tower only if the path stays low enough that AA never acquires you.
- On the Platform Oil Rig, destroy rocket AA turrets when you can. Rockets do not respawn after you kill them; lasers do, so rockets are the permanent gain.
Once you are on the deck, keep flyers grounded or unused until AA is dead or you are leaving. Summoning a flyer mid-fight on an AA platform is a common wipe.
Prep before you sail
Multi Guided Missile Launcher
Weapons
A multi-lock missile launcher that fires guided missiles capable of tracking enemies. Designed for overwhelming burst damage against high-value targets.
Missile Ammo
Ammo
Ammo for the Guided Missile Launcher and similar weapons. Can be crafted at Weapon Assembly Line II.
Homeward Thundercloud
Consumables
Transports you to the nearest base. Cannot be used in dungeons and other similar locations.
Legendary Sphere
Spheres
An item that captures Pals when thrown. Very few Pals can escape its perfected design.
Crude Oil
Materials
A material that can be processed into various products. Obtained by installing a Crude Oil Extractor in an oil field.
- Multi Guided Missile Launcher plus Missile Ammo: required for a clean Attack Chopper kill on the Platform Oil Rig. Secure the launcher before your first top-tier large-chest pull if you can.
- Homeward Thundercloud (or any reliable recall): when the deck goes wrong, leave. Dying offshore burns time and can drop you far from your route.
- Healing, armor, and a capture loadout: oil-rig exclusive Pal variants only appear here, and chests can drop high-tier spheres and schematics.
- A combat party that works on foot. Water mounts get you there; ground DPS and tanks clear the deck.
Sky Battery
Mounted gun platforms with Xenolord amp.
Heavy mounted weapons from Jetragon/Grizzbolt/Mossanda Lux/Relaxaurus Lux; Xenolord amps weapon partner skills.
Swap flyers out before AA platforms. Use water mounts for the swim-in, then fight on deck.
Open PartiesDeck clear loop

- Land low: climb from the waterline or a sheltered ladder. Do not hover the pad on a flyer if AA is live.
- Kill turrets and cannons early. Destroyable oil-rig cannons show an interact prompt when you can finish them; every turret you leave up is free damage while you loot.
- Clear patrol packs before opening chests. Chest animations are when you get surrounded.
- Loot systematically: small chests and crates first, then mid chests, then the large chest on the Platform Oil Rig (that one starts the chopper).
- Extract when the deck is empty or your ammo and heals are gone. You can return after a restock.
Platform Oil Rig: Attack Chopper fight
The Attack Chopper (Security Drone / Attack Chopper in game data) is still part of the Platform Oil Rig encounter after 1.0. It does not patrol at random. It spawns when you interact with the large chest on that platform (hacking or cracking the chest).

How to win the chopper fight:
- Clear the deck and AA as much as you can before touching the large chest. Fighting the chopper while ground enemies and rockets are still live is unnecessary hard mode.
- Open or hack the large chest to spawn the Attack Chopper.
- Move into hard cover: shipping containers, office interiors, and thick metal walls. The chopper's guns punish players who stand in the open.
- Fire the Multi Guided Missile Launcher from cover. Missiles keep tracking after you duck back inside, so you can shoot, hide, reload, and repeat.
- Bring enough Missile Ammo for a full kill. Running dry mid-fight forces a retreat or a slow death under chopper fire.
- When the chopper goes down, finish looting the large chest and any remaining crates, then leave before you pull a fresh wave you cannot finish.

Loot and oil-rig Pal variants
Chest loot scales by platform. Game data uses separate mini, mid, and large oil-rig lottery tables. Expect Crude Oil, ammo, spheres, and schematic rolls, with the Platform large chest as the jackpot after the chopper.
Oil-rig exclusive Pal variants (datamined *_Oilrig forms) only spawn on these platforms. Known bases include Incineram Noct, Knocklem, Helzephyr, Faleris, Xenovader, and Leezpunk oil-rig variants. Treat them like limited wild encounters: clear adds, then capture.

Recommended order
- Learn the deck loop on the Test Drilling Rig with no AA pressure.
- Move to the mid Oil Rig once you can clear on foot and approach by water without panic.
- Craft or secure a Multi Guided Missile Launcher and Missile Ammo before your first Platform Oil Rig large-chest pull.
- On the Platform: water approach, kill rocket AA, clear the deck, then chopper from cover.
- Farm the Platform on a restock loop when you need Crude Oil, schematics, or oil-rig variants.
If AA keeps deleting your mount on the way in, stop flying. Swim or water-mount to the legs of the platform every time. The fight is on the deck, not in the air.
