The 24/7 Night-Shift, Min-Maxing the Nocturnal Passive Trait

Dark Pals work through the night naturally, but breeding Nocturnal onto the wrong worker can quietly clog your entire base.

Dark-element Pals are naturally nocturnal, and the Nocturnal passive grants that behavior to any worker. A Nocturnal Pal keeps working while others sleep, which sounds like a pure upgrade, but 24/7 production only helps if the rest of the chain also runs 24/7.

Stations that love the night shift

  • Automated ore smelters and furnaces that consume a steady fuel supply.
  • Watering lines feeding continuous plantations.
  • Any station whose output flows straight into a large storage buffer.

Where it backfires

Ranching and farming lines produce physical items that need collecting. If your transport Pals are not also Nocturnal, they sleep while the Nocturnal producers keep dropping goods, inventory slots fill, the station stalls, and you wake up to a jammed queue. Match Nocturnal producers with Nocturnal transporters, or buffer the output with extra chests.

Find natural Dark-type and Nocturnal workers instantly.
