Common questions

Where does PalWorldSettings.ini go?

In Pal/Saved/Config/LinuxServer/ on Linux or Pal/Saved/Config/WindowsServer/ on Windows, inside your server install. The folder appears after the server has started once. Editing DefaultPalWorldSettings.ini does nothing.

Why are my Palworld server settings not applying?

The file must be exactly two lines: the [/Script/Pal.PalGameWorldSettings] header and one OptionSettings=(...) line. A typo or missing bracket makes the server fall back to defaults. Stop the server before editing, since it can overwrite the file on shutdown.

Do I need every setting in the OptionSettings line?

No. Any setting you leave out uses the server default, so the Only include changed settings option gives you a short, tidy line. The full version is easier to tweak by hand later.

What changed for server settings in 1.0 and 1.0.4?

1.0 cut the Huge Egg hatch time default from 72 hours to 1 and changed the default death penalty to Item. 1.0.4 added FishingDifficultyRate and a per-player building cap.
