Active Skill Inheritance Rules vs. Level-Up Unlocks

Low-level hatchlings sometimes spawn with destructive endgame moves, that's inheritance, not leveling.

A Pal's active skill kit is filled from two independent pipelines. Level-up unlocks are the moves a species naturally learns as it gains levels, on a fixed timeline. Inherited skills are moves passed from the parents at hatch, which is why a level 1 baby can arrive already knowing an endgame nuke.

How 1.0 inheritance resolves

At hatch, the game rolls a subset of the parents' active skills into the child's kit. Because those slots can be filled before the natural unlocks arrive, you can pre-load a hatchling with exactly the moves you want and avoid overwriting them later.

Stop wasting skill fruit

  • Inherit the moves that are hard or impossible to teach, and save fruit for the rest.
  • Plan the kit around the level-up timeline so natural unlocks don't crowd inherited slots.
  • Confirm a move's element for STAB before locking it into a build.

Cross-check every active and passive before you breed.
